There is something profound happening. Not because life is trying to make things harder. But because life has an extraordinary way of revealing everything that no longer belongs to the truth of who we are.
Every trigger is an invitation. Like a portal of opportunity... not to judge yourself more or convince you that you need more fixing (although that's often exactly what they seem to do)...
But to notice the story you've unknowingly been living inside. Every one of us carries stories. Stories about not being enough. Not belonging. Not being seen. Not being understood. Not being safe.
Most of us don't even realise they're stories anymore. They've become the lens through which we experience life. Until something happens..., someone says something... someone doesn't reply and we feel gaslighted or rejected...
Life doesn't unfold as we hoped. And suddenly we aren't simply experiencing the moment... We're reliving a story that has been ruling beneath the surface for years, lifetimes or even longer... for generations.
How the Story Became Our Reality
The hardest part is this... Most of these stories didn't begin with us.
Long before we could choose what to believe, our nervous system was already learning how to survive.
Every moment we didn't feel seen...
Every time love felt conditional...
Every experience of rejection, abandonment or having to become someone else in order to belong...
Our beautiful system adapted, because it had to and it's brilliantly intelligent. And over time, those adaptations became beliefs. Those beliefs became patterns. Those patterns became the framework through which we began to experience life itself.
Until one day, we no longer recognised them as stories... We simply called them "me." This is why healing asks for so much compassion. Because you're not trying to get rid of yourself. You're gently discovering that what you've been protecting all these years was never your true nature...
only the most loving survival strategy you could create.
This is where awareness becomes one of the greatest acts of courage. Because instead of asking, "Why are they doing this to me?" we begin asking,
"What story inside me is being awakened?"
That single question changes everything.
When Survival Becomes Identity
This is why our reactions can feel so incredibly real. To the survival system, these stories aren't simply thoughts.
They feel like life itself.
If I don't belong...
I won't survive.
If I'm rejected...
I'm not safe.
If I'm misunderstood...
I'm alone.
Of course your heart contracts... Of course your body begins to race... Of course your mind searches for certainty...
There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. Your system has simply been trying to protect the life it believed depended on these stories. And this is exactly why awareness is so powerful.
Not because it removes the trigger...
But because it gently reminds us that we are so much more than the strategy that once kept us safe.
One of the clearest ways I know to recognise you've been pulled into a story is beautifully simple. Ask yourself:
Where is my choice?
Because the moment you believe there is no choice... The moment everything feels absolute... The moment your body tightens, your mind races and you can only see one way forward...
You've left your centre, your truth, your presence...
It's where we become identified with the story instead of the awareness that's witnessing it.
Your centre never loses choice.
It may not know exactly what to do next... But it never loses itself. And this is the hidden truth beneath every story.
Beneath every fear of rejection... Beneath every longing to belong... Beneath every feeling of abandonment... Lives something untouched.
Something that has never been broken or truly rejected...
IT HAS NEVER BEEN SEPARATED...
The deepest truth of who you are is Love itself. The stories ask you to become someone worthy of love. Truth gently reminds you...
You already are.
Maybe that's why these times feel so intense...
The Tree of Life Doesn't Teach Separation
This is one of the reasons I feel so deeply called to share this Saturday's Tree of Life Transmission. Because the Tree of Life doesn't begin with separation. It begins with wholeness.
It reminds us that we have never truly been separate from Life... from Love... or from one another.
It shows us that beneath every survival strategy...
beneath every inherited story...
beneath every identity we've learned to protect...
There is already a living foundation. A place where nothing needs proving... Nothing needs earning... Nothing needs becoming...
When our body begins to remember this... Safety no longer has to come from controlling life, pleasing others or protecting old identities.
It begins to arise from within. And when true safety returns... The stories no longer need to fight so hard to keep us alive. They can finally soften.
Not because we forced them to. But because something infinitely deeper has been remembered. Because everything we've mistaken for ourselves is gently being brought into the light.
Not so we suffer... or feel more defeated, as the old story will endlessly try to convince us. But so we can finally stop building our lives upon foundations that were never true.
